The fat little pungent (I am aware this is an adjective) has done it again. He’s pissed off America again. I guess I should say that the Nation should be used to the antics of Limbaugh. He’s an idiot who feels like the world cannot threaten his position in the political and media worlds.
But, this time, he’s personally pissed off one of the most powerful men in the world. President Barack Obama.
Think about if Sandra Fluke were your daughter and an older man hat. d made such derogatory comments about her–basically referring to her as an oversexed object, a hooker, a prostitute.
Well, President Obama did just that. He thought to himself, what would I have done if Sasha or Malia were courageous enough to speak about such issues and a man nationally referred to either of them as a prostitute for simply voicing their opinions intelligently about such an important matter in the lives of women.
And, he got pissed. During a press conference President Obama addressed the Limbaugh-Fluke debacle and this is what he said (as reported by NewYorker.com):
…because I thought about Malia and Sasha, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about. Even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way. And I don’t want them attacked or called horrible names because they’re being good citizens. And I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her.
And that we want to send a message to all our young people that being a part of a democracy involves arguments and disagreements and debates. And we want you to be engaged. And there’s a way to do it that doesn’t involve you being demeaned and insulted, particularly when you’re a private citizen.
It is only a President who has conviction that will address these types of issues in a public stance with both confidence and remorse. He felt he was responsible to call Ms. Fluke and personally address her and commend her despite the demeaning comments Limbaugh said in reference to what her fight represented.
Just ask yourself, will Santorum or Gingrich or Romney do the same? Oh, I’m sorry, this is not what this article is about.
Back to the subject.
We have to truly figure out, as a Nation, what is free speech? And, where do we draw the line with these types of public individuals who have no regard for others political freedoms.
Hopefully, the Obama girls or any other little girl who wants to speak about issues that matter to them concerning sexuality will be persecuted for speaking about women’s bodies and what they represent and the correct ways to handle them. For years, the female genitalia has been up for grabs and women aren’t the ones whose making the decisions of who catches it. Maybe that should change.
